What Exactly Is Aerial Yoga?
Aerial Yoga was developed in 2006 by Michelle Dortignac, blending traditional yoga, Pilates, and dance. Inspired by the inversion therapy methods introduced by legendary yogi B.K.S. Iyengar, the practice further drew inspiration from aerial dance and circus arts.
In an Aerial Yoga session, practitioners use a fabric hammock suspended from the ceiling to support their weight, allowing them to experience traditional yoga poses in innovative ways—floating, supported, and comfortable.
