Copenhagen Prenatal Yoga

A supportive space to heighten your self-awareness

As you are growing a little human inside of your womb, you go through a transformational and challenging journey of body, mind and soul. As much as it can be a beautiful and magical one, it can also be one of discomfort, moments of exhaustion, and fluctuating levels of energy and vitality. Our prenatal yoga classes are designed for this in-between space. Come as you are. We'll begin there.

Why prenatal yoga?

Because this season is full of change. And you don’t have to navigate it alone. Our prenatal yoga course is designed for anyone on the journey of pregnancy and birth. Whether you’re just beginning to show or nearing the end, there’s a place for you here. This practice is about supporting the whole of you. Body, breath, and being. It's a space where you can move with care, rest with intention, and feel supported just as you are. You don’t need prior yoga experience, our prenatal-focused instructors will guide you through the session with care and clarity.

What is pregnancy yoga?

Pregnancy yoga (or prenatal yoga as it is called) is a well-guided and grounding movement practice adapted to the needs of pregnancy. It helps you connect with your body in the midst of change. It teaches you to move in ways that feel supportive and intuitive. Through a series of strengthening and mobility exercises, we aim to make your pregnancy journey more comfortable and fluid, providing relief from common pregnancy discomforts such as hip or back pain. Throughout the course, we will integrate meditation and relaxation techniques to nurture a sense of calm and inner resilience. We keep the pace slow. The atmosphere calm. The guidance clear.

Why practice yoga during pregnancy?

It's essential to recognize that each pregnancy is an individual and unique experience. Postures, breathwork, and other practices may feel different for every participant and can vary day by day. But our course offers you the space and guidance to practice a deeper listening of your body and develop trust in its wisdom. This can be a transformative time for you in which you embrace your inner voice and intuition to honor and nourish not only yourself but also your growing baby. Of course, prenatal yoga can help ease many of the physical discomforts that come with pregnancy. But it also supports your emotional space. It can help reduce stress and anxiety, and give you tools to ground yourself, to breathe when things feel intense, and to tune in to your own deep knowing. In sharing circles, you will have the opportunity to share and exchange your personal pregnancy journey including the highs and lows surrounded and supported by other becoming mothers and birth givers.

What to expect

In small groups, we meet once a week in the same cozy space, with the same caring teacher. There’s comfort in that rhythm.

The sessions include practices like:
• Pranayama/breath
• Hip openers and pelvic floor awareness
• Meditation and visualizations
• Strength and balance
• Practice of surrender/letting go
• Deep rest and relaxation
• Movement flows
• Relieving practices to ease tension and strain from carrying the growing baby
• Somatic practices to regulate the autonomic nervous system
• Sharing circles
• Supportive and communal environment where you can connect with other birth givers

We use props like bolsters, blocks, and blankets to support every body, at every stage. You’re always welcome to adjust or opt out. This is your practice.

Our approach at Kailo

At Kailo, we teach from care. Our teachers are trained in prenatal yoga. But more importantly, they know how to hold space. There is no pressure to “keep up.” No assumptions about what this journey should look like. Only respect. For your body, for your process and for wherever you’re at on any given day. We trust that your body knows the way. We’re here to guide you into that wisdom.

Is this course for you?

Whether this is your first pregnancy or you’ve been through it before, you’re welcome. Maybe you're feeling joyful, exhausted, overwhelmed, curious — or some mix of it all. There's no need to look or move a certain way to belong. You don’t have to wait for the “right” trimester to begin, either. Check in with your care provider, and with yourself. This isn’t a traditional birth preparation course, but the breath, strength, softness, and community we explore together can offer support through labor and into the early days of motherhood.

The kailo space

We know that softness matters. Our studio is designed to be a place where you can feel at home. The room is quiet, warm and softly lit. We provide all the props you might need to feel supported — bolsters, blankets, blocks — and create a setting that invites rest as much as movement. Our lounge offers a space for your to retreat from the sessions if needed, or connect with other soon-to-be mothers post practice. We always have herbal tea and snacks available for you to enjoy.
