Hatha yoga: the timeless art of balance
A harmonious union of Yin and Yang
Hatha yoga is the art of balance. A slower, more grounded practice that gently strengthens your body while calming your mind. At Kailo yoga, our Hatha classes are rooted in tradition and conveyed with warmth, clarity, and care. Each class is an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and discover the quiet power of breath and posture.
Why choose Hatha at Kailo?
We see Hatha yoga as more than just a class. It is a steadying anchor in a fast-paced world. With deep respect for yoga’s origins and a keen eye for modern anatomy and alignment, we offer classes that are both nourishing and intelligently structured. Our experienced teachers guide you through breath-led postures, longer holds and meditative focus. You will leave class feeling clear, grounded and quietly strong. Whether you're stepping onto the mat for the first time or returning to deepen your practice, Hatha yoga offers a grounded, steady foundation that welcomes and challenges both beginners and seasoned yogis alike.

What is Hatha yoga?
Hatha is one of yoga’s oldest branches. It focuses on the body and the breath as gateways to deeper awareness. In Sanskrit, Ha means sun and Tha means moon. Together they symbolize the balance of opposing energies: strength and softness, effort and ease, movement and stillness.
Hatha yoga classes typically involve:
• Static postures (asanas): Poses are held for longer, allowing time to explore alignment and sensation
• Breath work (pranayama): Breathing techniques are woven into the practice to calm the mind and guide energy
• Conscious pace: Movements are intentional and unhurried, giving space for awareness to grow
• Subtle practices: Depending on the class, you may also meet meditation, chanting or energy work
Unlike faster-flowing styles like Vinyasa, Hatha offers more pause and presence. Yet it is far from passive. It builds strength, both physically and mentally.
Our approach at kailo
Our Hatha classes blend tradition with a mindful, down-to-earth attitude. We offer a welcoming space where curiosity is encouraged and your body sets the pace. Our teachers are deeply trained and bring their own voice to the practice. They draw on both classical teachings and modern anatomy. You will be invited to notice, to breathe and to move with clarity and intention.
Every Hatha class at Kailo includes but isn't limited to:
• A slower tempo that encourages focus and alignment
• Modifications and variations to support your unique body
• Breath practices to guide energy and attention
• A warm, inclusive atmosphere with no pressure
The classes are open to all levels, you do not need to be flexible or know any Sanskrit. Come as you are, no extras required.

Is Hatha yoga right for me?
If you are looking for a yoga class that builds strength gently, offers deep relaxation and reconnects you with your breath, Hatha might be the perfect fit. It is especially suited for anyone who want a clear and steady practice, for practitioners looking to refine their technique, and for those who are curious about yoga’s traditional roots. Decelerating your daily pace, this class offers a concentrated, radiant and spherical practice to anchor you into the present moment, focusing on slow conscious movement and a willful use of breath. Hatha might be right for you if you're interested in redefining how strength and control show up in your practice. It's a steady, intentional approach that supports both focus and physical awareness.
