Handstand Course — Level 2
Level: intermediate
What if catching your handstand didn’t have to feel like luck? If you’ve already begun your handstand journey but feel stuck, or just want more out of your practice, this course is for you. Through these bundle sessions, you’ll get a clearer understanding of where you are in your handstand journey, what might be holding you back, and how to practice more effectively to overcome those roadblocks and keep progressing.
Each session, we’ll dive into a specific aspect of handstands. By combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice—aka whiteboard explanation plus plenty of time on your hands—Andrés will guide you in understanding the different layers of handstands, both in your mind and in your body.
By the end of the course, you can expect to leave with a clear roadmap towards improving your handstand practice, with specific exercises, perspective, and focus points matching your needs and goals.
Some of the main things we’ll work on:
• Refining strategies to ensure safety on your handstands
• Other entrances to handstand besides the kick-up
• Building balance to hold your handstand beyond 5 seconds
• Setting the foundations for the press to handstand (magically lifting into the handstand without jumping)
At the end of each session, you’ll receive homework to reinforce the day’s learning. Rest assured, we’ll keep a comfortable rhythm with plenty of time for discussions, breaks, and gradual exploration of the handstand skill.
This course is for you if you have either completed one of our previous handstand courses or if you can:
• Consistently kick up to the wall
• Regularly find a few seconds of balance on your hands
• Bail out of a handstand safely (not dropping into a wheel pose)
If you’re still working on getting upside down, overcoming fear of being upside down, or learning how to bail safely, we recommend you to join our weekly friday handstand classes or join the Level 1 course. If you’re not sure where you fit, feel free to reach out to Andrés on instagram with any questions.
Handbalancing, like yoga and play, is less about the final result and more about the process. These sessions are all about that journey.
