Introduction

“lift your kneecaps”, “engage your core” & “shoulders away from ears” are some of the phrases you hear a lot in yoga classes. But why? Do we actually know what it means? What is actually going on “on the inside”?
Are you a yoga teacher who wants to deepen or refresh your knowledge of applied anatomy, or are you a dedicated yoga student curious about how the physical aspects of asana-practice affects your body?
Did you take a yoga-teacher training, but still don’t feel confident to teach? Or do you want a solid foundation from where you may start your yoga teacher journey?
Are you teaching and practicing on a regular basis but feel kind of stuck in your own practice?
The concept of yoga is meant to slow down the mind, to increase sensitivity and openness through the lineage – the eight limbs, to ideally create a tool to better face and embrace our individual reality. Asana (postures, the physical practice of yoga) is the third limb and this is where this training focuses.

ABOUT

If you teach on a regular basis, or you practice a lot, but have the feeling that you are not evolving or moving forward, understanding what is actually going on “on the inside”, and learning about how basic gymnastics and functional range conditioning is fundamental to support your yoga practice might, be the catalyst you need.

The comprehensive training includes anatomy lectures breaking down the anatomy as applied to asana, practicums that will help you identify which muscles are commonly stretched and strengthened in common poses, yoga practices that correspond with the part of the body discussed in each experiential lecture with a

special focus on intentional cueing, movement analysis, modifications and hands-on alignments. Moreover, with this training you will get more profound knowledge on movement science and basic gymnastics to better support your own practice and to responsibly help your students to move forward.

At the end of the course, you will receive a KAÍLO & healthcareYOGA certification for the 25-hours anatomy and responsible asana practice. You’ll have full access to KAÍLO yogas daily classes during these 5 weeks of learning.

If you are a yoga teacher this course counts as continuous education hours with the Yoga Alliance, and you will receive a certification signed by Kostis (YACEP & E-RYT200)

Moreover, you will learn about functional range conditioning (FRC), which is meant to improve the overall capacity of joint movement in every asana; improved movement capacity, range of motion, body awareness and control, strength and neurological function.

Week 2

Breaking down the shoulder:
Anatomy theory; scapular stability and the shoulder girdle.
Practicum: palpation and movement breakdown
Asana practice; cueing and hands on alignment
FRC and basic gymnastic exercises for shoulder stability and strength

Week 3
Breaking down the hip:
Anatomy theory; the hip joint, muscles around the hip and interactions with the pelvis, the lower spine and the core
Practicum: palpation and movement breakdown
Asana practice; cueing and hands on alignment
FRC and basic gymnastic exercises for hip mobility

Week 4
Breaking down the spine and the core
Anatomy theory; Spine anatomy and spine movements, muscles of the core and their involvement in healthy spine movements and breathing
Practicum: palpation and movement breakdown
Asana practice; cueing and hands on alignment
FRC and basic gymnastic exercises for a healthy spine

Day 5
Breaking down the extremities;
Anatomy theory; bones, muscles and movements of the extremities with emphasis on interaction with the axial skeleton (spine and pelvis) for healthy movement patterns
Practicum: palpation and movement breakdown
Asana practice; cueing and hands on alignment

Marianne

marianne

The founder of healthcareYOGA, a medical doctor, an avid yoga practitioner and an educated Yoga Alliance (RYT200 hours) certified yoga teacher. She has been teaching in the medical field for years and now teach Vinyasa/Hatha & Yin style studio yoga classes, personal yoga-introductory courses and yoga anatomy and physiology for coming yoga teachers.
“I teach with focus on translation between theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, psychology and movement science and the functional asana practice. I'm always inspired by research and traditional yoga practices conjointly, aiming to help students intentionally translate their yoga practice from the mat to their everyday lives, potentially improving quality of life. Safe and responsible yoga-teaching is essential to me; if you know and understand the anatomy underlying every movement you do, you will better qualify to intentionally and safely lead, observe and guide students in their practice, end feel more confident as a teacher as well as in evolving your own practice.”
Marianne will be giving lectures on anatomy and practicums translating theory into practice, all with emphasis on how the theoretical knowledge applies to asanas, how we cue and lead students safely, why we use the cues we do, and what to focus on relating to anatomy in your own practice.
